REDMOND O’TOOLE, possibly the leading young Irish classical guitarist of today, is returning to Galway to play St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church on Tuesday at 8pm.

THE MEXICAN guitarist Rosa María Robinson will play music by Dowland, Sor, Villa Lobos, Tedesco and Ponc, in Coole Park this Saturday at 8pm.

This acclaimed musician is one of a handful of performers in the world to play a Brahms guitar, an eight-string guitar played in the position of a cello. Mayo audiences have seen Redmond recently in the Westport Arts Festival and Killala Arts Festival and last July he performed to a full house in St Thomas’ on Achill.

THE CITY is in for a treat with a weekend of jazz from leading practitioners of the genre from Norway, Germany, Italy, and Ireland at the Galway Jazz Festival which runs from this evening up to Sunday night.
